Step 1- Gathering Information:
First things first, we'll need to gather all the important details. Upon report of your claim (see article on how to report a claim), our claims team will kindly ask for any additional pertinent information to move forward with your claim. That might include a statement from the renter (aka your guest), any other necessary evidence, proof of ownership, diagnostic reports, or guest insurance.
Step 2- Confirming Coverage: We're almost there, my friend! Your dedicated adjuster will carefully review all the statements, documents, photos, estimate, and any other necessary information to ensure it's an eligible claim. Drive with Uber claims require coordination with Uber to determine the appropriate coverage (read more about Drive with Uber insurance here). We strive to have step 1 and 2 completed within 3 days.
Step 3- Triage: Certain claims require specialized handling in accordance with our insurance partners. If your accident contains multiple parties, a guest or guest passenger was injured, or your vehicle has extreme damage, we'll report your claim to a third party claims administrator to resolve certain aspects of your claim. Don't worry, you're still in capable hands!
Step 4- The Estimate: As soon as eligibility is confirmed, we'll request a virtual or in-person estimate in which to assess the damage. Sit back and relax while the estimators work their magic! If it's determined that Uber is primary for your damage claim, Uber's claim personnel will work with you to estimate the damages. Getaround will reimburse an Uber-applied deductible where appropriate.
Step 5- Payment: The best part! Getaround aims to make claim settlements a breeze! We've got a nifty trick up our sleeves called direct deposits. Once your payment is ready, we'll send you a delightful email notification. Just follow the simple instructions to enter your bank information, and voila! Your well-deserved payment will zoom into your account within 24-48 hours. Or if you prefer, you can request a paper check instead.
Step 6: Closing the Loop: Now that you have the payment in your eager hands, it's time to wrap things up. We'll take care of charging the guest their deductible and resolving any third party claims. Feel free to take your Getaround estimate and payment to any shop of your choice to kickstart those much-needed repairs. Time to get your car back in tip-top shape! If your shop of choice has a supplement, there is a website listed at the top of your estimate in which they may submit photos and request additional payment.
Step 7- Post Claim Follow-Up: If your trusty repair shop requests a supplement, don't worry—it's not some sort of vitamin. It simply means they might need a little extra time or resources to complete the work. They can request a supplement by following the handy instructions on the first page of the Getaround estimate.
