What happens if I receive a traffic ticket in the mail that was caused by a renter?

As the car owner, you are responsible for settling any renter-incurred traffic tickets, citations, and violations to prevent additional penalties due to late payment. Once payment has been made, please submit a copy of the citation and confirmation of payment to help@getaround.com for reimbursement.

As outlined in our Fees and Commission Schedule, you will be reimbursed for the cost of settling any renter-incurred citations. We may also add a $15.00 earnings adjustment to compensate you for your time and effort to resolve the renter-incurred expense. We'll handle the renter side of things.

Citation reimbursement requests must be submitted to Getaround within 90 days of the violation issue date. Any and all late or delinquent penalties are the sole responsibility of the car owner.

If the ticket is for a moving violation, such as running a red light at a photo-enforced traffic intersection, we'll sign an Affidavit of Non-Liability on your behalf and reassign the ticket to your renter. As a car owner, a renter-incurred ticket will never affect your insurance or driving record.
