As you know, cars of all makes and models are shared on Getaround, and as a result, we work hard to stay up-to-date on issues that may affect any of the cars shared in our community.
We’ve recently been made aware of an oil consumption defect in certain Subaru models.
According to dealer and consumer reports submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Subaru oil consumption defect includes the following Subaru car year and models: 2011-14 Subaru Forester 2.5L, 2013 Legacy 2.5L, 2013 Outback 2.5L, 2012-13 Impreza 2.0L and 2013 XV Crosstrek 2.0L vehicles.
Your local Subaru dealer can help diagnose the problem and may be able to offer to extend your warranty. To settle the oil burning defect class action lawsuit, Subaru has agreed to increase the warranty on vehicles with the defect from the original 5-year / 60,000-mile warranty, to an 8-year / 100,000-mile warranty.
