We have made the decision to temporarily scale back our operations of weekly Getaround rentals due to the slowdown in day-to-day business. As a result, we will be pausing the availability of weekly rideshare rentals.
Going forward, drivers will still have the option to book Getaround cars by the hour to drive with Uber and can check the Uber Vehicle Marketplace for other weekly rental options.
When does this start?
This change has already gone into effect for any new rentals, any existing rentals can be extended through to its maximum duration (21 days), or until 4/18/2020, whichever comes first.
What if I am currently renting a weekly rideshare vehicle?
This change doesn’t immediately impact your current rental and you will be able to extend your current rental to it’s maximum duration, or until 4/18/2020, whichever comes first. Upon the completion of your rental, please follow the in-app instructions and return the car to the same location as your pickup.
Does Getaround have other rideshare options?
Yes, we offer hourly rideshare rentals in all markets where weekly rentals were available (link to help center to learn more?)
Does Uber have other options to rent weekly vehicles?
Yes, you can visit http://t.uber.com/vsoptions to learn more about other options in your area.
Is this permanent?
No, this is not a permanent decision–we look forward to making this service available again for you soon.
