It is possible for your account to have outstanding balance. This can occur if there is an issue with the payment method on your account when attempting to charge for any fees incurred during a trip such as fuel, damage, or improper return fees–or other trip incidentals like tolls charges.
If we are unable to bill the card you have on file for any of the fees or charges related to a trip, you will be notified of any outstanding balances via email. If there is an outstanding balance on your Getaround account, you will not be able to book a new trip until that balance has been paid in full.
How it works?
To pay the invoices, follow the link provided in your notification email or by visiting www.getaround.com/invoices when you are logged into your Getaround account. From here, you can review and pay the outstanding fees or charges. You also be notified via the app should you attempt to book a trip and there is an outstanding balance on your account you will be prompted to settle all invoices before completing your trip.
When you click "Pay" you will be re-directed our payment processor, stripe.com to complete payment. Complete the payment on the Stripe page and the invoice will be settled right away.
For now, each invoice must be paid separately but we hope to streamline this process in the future. Below is an example of the Stripe payment portal in the Getaround mobile app.
