Getaround & Uber collaborate to ensure hosts and drivers are covered during their combined use of the Getaround and Uber platforms.
Claims that occur on a rideshare enabled Getaround reservation will be covered by either Getaround’s insurance or Uber’s insurance, depending on when the accident occurred during the reservation. Below is an outline detailing when Getaround or Uber’s insurance will apply.
When does Getaround Insurance apply?
- The Uber driver is on a Getaround reservation and the Uber app is off
- The Uber driver is on a Getaround reservation and the Uber app is on awaiting a ride request
When does Uber’s Insurance apply?
- The Uber driver is on a Getaround reservation and accepted a ride/Uber Eats request via the Uber platform and is pending pickup
- The Uber driver is on a Getaround reservation and is performing an active Uber ride/ Uber eats trip with the Uber platform
Uber’s insurance provides comprehensive collision coverage with a $1,000 deductible. Getaround will reimburse up to $1,000 for comprehensive and collision damage given appropriate documentation. When Uber’s insurance applies, Getaround will cover the loss of use for hosts according to Getaround’s loss of use policy.
Reporting a Claim:
All claims occurring during a Getaround reservation, regardless of use, should first be reported to Getaround.
Getaround will report all related claims to Uber in order to determine the correct usage and application of coverage.
Determining Coverage:
Once Uber and Getaround have determined the vehicle’s usage at the time of the accident as well as the applicable coverage according to the reported incident, Getaround and Uber will communicate their coverage determination to you.
The coverage determination will determine whether Getaround or Uber will coordinate the primary payments and further investigation of your claim.
Submitting a deductible reimbursement and/or loss of use claim in relation to an Uber claim:
In order to request reimbursement for your $1000 deductible applied by Uber, forward a copy of your approved and paid Uber repair estimate to Getaround by replying to the original claim email. Getaround will review and process your request within 3 days of receipt and payment will be issued via your owner earnings.
In order to request loss of use payments for an Uber processed claim; forward a copy of your approved and paid Uber repair estimate to Getaround by replying to the original claim email. Loss of use eligibility begins at the 15th day of repair and will be calculated based on prior earnings up to a maximum of $25/day for 30 days maximum. The amount of repair days are calculated by taking the total number of repair hours divided by 4 plus any weekend days. For more information on Loss of Use, please see this Help Center article.
